Read beyond “salsa”
Look for the style and timing convention named by the instructor. Check whether the lesson teaches solo work, partner work or a choreography. A title that states its intended audience makes it easier to choose a suitable starting point.
Check how roles are explained
For partner lessons, see whether both roles receive a clear demonstration and whether the camera shows their relationship. A single front view may leave you with questions that need a teacher’s explanation.
Preview the teaching
Choose a sample with spoken explanation and repetition, not only a social-dance highlight reel. Note the chapter structure and any earlier lesson the instructor expects you to have completed. Use a teacher directory to find someone who can advise on the approach taught locally.
