Getting started

Know whether you want a lesson or a follow-along.

Distinguish dance instruction from exercise-led videos before choosing what to watch.

01

Read the stated purpose

Some videos teach dance vocabulary; others use dance-inspired movement in a continuous follow-along session. Neither description tells you that it suits your needs. Look for the provider’s explanation of audience, experience level and available alternatives.

02

Preview the whole structure

Read the chapter list and check the controls. Find the introduction and any guidance the instructor gives about space, footwear and preparation. Avoid treating a running time or a marketing claim as a personal exercise prescription.

03

Choose support you can ask questions of

If you are unsure whether a session is appropriate, ask a qualified professional familiar with your circumstances. A video cannot assess you. This guide helps you compare formats; it does not provide a workout or promise a fitness result.
